Joel Barlow

The local boy and Hartford wit was mentioned in an essay on firearms ethics linked to by Instapundit.

Joel Barlow, a political theorist of Jefferson's time, wrote tellingly: [The disarming of citizens has] a double effect, it palsies the hand and brutalizes the mind: a habitual disuse of physical forces totally destroys the moral [force]; and men lose at once the power of protecting themselves, and of discerning the cause of their oppression.

The state
now produces writers who think the United States was the villain in World War II.

Whither our freedoms?

They have a site for Brokers with their hands on their faces.

There could easily be one for patriots. And common sensers.
