Best weather in a long spell. I stood in a river in sleet making a fool of myself the other day and tried to play it off as "fishing".

His AA12 recoiless automatic shotgun is amazing.



In order to sell it to the American military he has gotten creative and married it to robots, including a remotely controlled helicopter...very cool:

"The 27 Mb video of the AutoCopter Gunship (with AA12 12-gauge Full-Auto Shotgun) is available for download from a specially set up FTP site. Click on this link - ftp://www.neural-robotics.com. Once you do that, a window will pop up that requests a login ID and a password. The login ID is autocopter and the password is gunship. If the FTP site doesn’t load correctly the first time then simply hit the "refresh" or "go" buttons on your browser and it should load without a problem. Well this RC helicopter that fires a .45 1911 is a sweet way to hold the spot!

It's been a while.

Homey sent over this cool video of a man catching a marlin from a Robinson helicopter. In fact his helicopter was his only tackle--er, not including actually tackling the fish.



This "Light-Craft" spins and flies. So it's in for HF. It is a beamed energy propulsion saucer. Neat.

In 1983, Scott Yenzer had a helicopter flying service, patrolling power lines in Florida. He also had a crazy idea: If a bird could land on a power line without blowing up, why couldn't he? At the time, power companies had to either shut off the current or dispatch workers in insulated cherry pickers to repair big transmission lines. If repairs could be made from a helicopter, inaccessible lines would be easy to maintain. But could you pack 500,000 volts into a chopper without blowing up the gas tanks? Without frying the aircraft's electrical system? Or the pilot? One morning Yenzer flew out to a big line. He braced himself as the chopper approached the wire. Ppffsszzt. An arc of electricity leaped from Yenzer's helmet microphone into his lip. Another struck his leg. Another bit into his ear. But the chopper had not exploded. "I thought, If this is as bad as it gets, it's okay," he says. "I can work it out." Yenzer has since evolved methods of maintaining power lines safely from the air and does so for more than 100 utilities.

I did not know that an around the world speed record was set:

"On Monday 18th August pilots Scott Kasprowicz and Steve Sheik succeeded in flying around the world in a helicopter in only 11 days 7 hours and 2 minutes - setting a new world speed record. The pilots broke the current record by almost 6 days with an average speed of 74 knots over the entire 11 days including stops, with an average speed of 150 knots while in the air. The record of the flight will be submitted to the National Aeronautic Association for ratification."

I find it mesmerizing and inspiring.



I find that footage so compelling words fail, (I even reused "compelling").

I will put up a few links for veterans groups that are worth contributing towards. They are a wonderful avenue and provide a genuine positive assisstance to participate in at this time of year or any other. I will ask Jimmy as well, he knows some good ones as I recall.

There was some sort of silly friction with the group that I participated in for Thanksgiving and Easter and Christmas, though it was not military in focus, and now I am unaware of how it all stands for this season. I believe I will just show up to help box and deliver and speed matters along, why must people resort to being people and making things all awkward anyhow in the first place;)?

Last week involved a grave error which saw "Helicopter Friday" lapse.

I must insure those devotees not ever again see such dearth. The first is a slideshow view of a man's experiences in Vietnam, he was serving our great nation on the day I was born.
