No, I'm serious.
O.k., so you say it already is, let me think, really think, on the matter...
Alright, how do people kill?
Guns. Knives. Ropes. Explosives. Blunt objects. Clearly many actionable vectors to crimp and improve safety.
Let's start at the top. Guns. Let's make a law to stop access and that way when someone who was not deterred by the 20 years in prison FOR MURDER tries to acquire one they will have a fine to face or some sort of illicit activity to engage in, every little bit helps!!
HOLY CRAP do I hate bankrupted notions and the currency they are accorded without end...
All of which (and we know I could have berated ad infinitum, I must still finish my BF allegory) brings me to a shocking concept which is linked through Instapundit, yes, but also through the fantastic and must bookmark David Hardy's Of Arms and the Law. The concept being that deranged killers who target strangers seek "fish in barrel" scenarios.
Expect common sense to not gain traction amongst editors.
Let me add: those who cannot see things clearly have a dire disconnect with the natural world they inhabit, and their misguided notions are a threat to their own safety. It is a form of mental illness when people feel MORE secure after they have made themselves naked to plain threats.
